Once upon a time, I told my Vice President that his work pants made him look like ‘an Italian pimp’. I’ll wait for the jaws to drop.
Here’s the thing – while I am not proud of that memory in any way, I truly said those words in jest and admiration. I LOVE pinstripe pants, I wear mine all the time! For all occasions! Perhaps an alternative word could have been used but often times my speech tends to move faster than my brain (or common sense). There’s a reason why my thought/diary/ramblings post are filed under ‘UNFILTERED’.
So let’s play a word association game. Tell me the first 3 words that come to mind with the word: ‘Pinstripes’. Seriously, write a comment below because I’m dying to hear. For me, they are Boss, Confidence, and Pimp (f*ck, I did it again). I’ll admit that pinstripes can sometimes be hard to nail, but pinky promise once you get the hang of them, you’ll wear these pants at least once a week, especially in these chilly seasons.
Pinstripes make a clear statement, whether you’re wearing them in the office or through town. For the professional look, you’ll want to make sure you’re pairing the pants with a single-colored, form-fitted top. A black long-sleeved turtleneck will read elegance. A billowy floral blouse will read ‘I got dressed with my eyes closed’. On the casual-side, there’s much more variety and space to work with. I like wearing mine with a grunge punk rock look, where you can simply throw on a tee, roll the cuffs up, then head to the nearest live music bar.
