Continuing on the great European quest, my eyes are open and observant to everything. I’ve got two months of work under my belt now, and I must say: consumption is far less a part of life here than it is in the US.  The women in my office all have their own unique sense of style, be it the structured blouse, oversized knit, dress+blazer combo à la Kate Middleton, or just bare minimalism. Oh, and pretty much no one ever wears flats.  Perhaps a pair of Stan Smith Adidas sneakers will cross the hallways on a Friday, but even then – the look is more chic than sporty.  

Though as each week passed, I not only noticed recurring items on these women, but also recurring combinations of clothing, signaling the mantra that ‘Less is More’ really resonates here.  Know what your inherent style is, then invest in a few high quality pieces that’ll last you years. I mean duh, this is common sensible shopping behavior but seriously, it’s remarkable how truly in practice you see it here. Trust the Europeans to keep something simple and effortless..

Following this thread of thought, let me tell you about a brand that I believe falls within this perspective. Nevillee is an independent Australian brand producing luxe basics made with their trademark Diamond Wash Silk. I bought their 2-in-1 camisole probably about half a year ago, solely by the fact that their silk shines like a clouded bed of diamonds on instagram #noshame #digitalmarketingworks #damnallyoushinyobjects

And of course, the top is 100% Utilita State stamp approved – just look at the name!  Wear it with the scoop side front over a white button-down and BOOM, you’ve got your day-time office wear. Pro tip: layering a camisole over a white blouse also helps solve that irritating risk of the see-through bra.  On the reverse (literally), I’m channelling slight eccentrism inspired by one of my favorite blogs, Man Repeller, when putting together this casual outfit.  Tuck into a high-waist denim skirt remade from Vintage Levi’s and throw on a pair of beautifully bold booties. Oo la, I feel so summer in New York.

Also noteworthy, I’ve found Nevillee really takes care of their customer.  As you already know, Madame Silk is a shiesty witch to take care of.  But Neville makes it easy, giving you step-by-step direction on how to care for their material, sending packets of stain removers, silk solution wipes, and even a netted laundry bag with their shipment… freakin customer service goals, amiright?
